David Lindsie Cone, MD, has been a faculty member with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine since 1988, joining the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine after completing his residency at Prisma Health Richland Hospital in Columbia. During his career, he has held various positions within the, including director of undergraduate medical education and director of inpatient services.
Dr. Cone is board certified in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine and has served as the director of the Hyperbaric Medicine Unit at Prisma Health Richland Hospital since 2000. His interest in diving and hyperbaric medicine has been pursued through grants, publications and invited lectures on the topic, and he has been recognized as a five-time recipient of the outstanding teacher honor by the Prisma Health/University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia Family Medicine Residency Program.
Cone holds a bachelor of science in chemistry from Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina, and received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He also has a special interest in information technology and currently serves as Chief Information Officer for the School of Medicine.
