The New Zealand forest industry is based on the management of plantation forests, consisting predominantly of Radiata pine and Douglas fir. We're taking a leading role in researching and promoting plantation management of other species, with a focus on increased biodiversity and sustainability. We've concentrated on Californian Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) in particular, but we've also put a great deal of research into a number of New Zealand's indigenous species through our association with Tane's Tree Trust.
